Beauty... warped...

Slim. Lanky. Hourglass. Feminine.
Beefy. Broad. Pecs. Masculine.
Beauty. Six letters. Differing opinions.
Women and men alike spend time, money and effort,
just so that they can achieve the universal stereotpye of beauty.

Yet, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And, lo and behold,
I am a beauty in someone's eyes.
I am contented.
Lanky lass with sexy curves I am not,
yet fear not, for I have more brains than breasts.

All things physical shall fade in time to come,
all that remains shall be knowledge and wisdom.

Ultimately, what shall linger on will be the smile...
My smile, for you. Your smile, for me.
Is beauty worthy enough of any pageant.
Though warped, but yet, true beauty...

Girl --> Woman

I was granted a brief chance meeting with my adopted godbrother's girlfriend for the very first time this afternoon. She happened to be working temp at a shopping centre nearby where my buddy and I were hanging out. She looked like any other teenage girl. Innocent, cheerful and friendly. The next few moments, however, came completely as a shock.

Right after we exchanged simple introductions and greetings, she was told by my godbro that I was just as much of a Hello Kitty fanatic as she was. Her only question to me was "Do you like Hello Kitty more or him more?" while pointing at my godbro. My only reaction to that was a loud guffaw, followed by "Him? I don't go for kids. I love Hello Kitty more!" She gave me a disbelieving look. We parted ways.

In a short span of 3 minutes, I have yet again realised how deceiving looks can be. A young girl, barely legal, already showing traits of a scheming woman! Acting all amiable but actually trying to suss out if I'm a potential love rival. Fake.

I would understand if she had kept a distance from me because she wanted to analyse my relationship with her boyfriend. But, noooo, she chose to do the "friendly approach". And MAN did she suck at it. Hate it when people can't pull off their schemes. Reservations I accept. I do that too sometimes. Trying to portray yourself as a friend when you're still trying to decide if the person is a foe... Definite no no.

We only live once. Dare to love and dare to hate. Let your emotions show when the time is right. If the chemistry isn't there the first time round, don't waste time. Precious youth is slipping away while you are there beating around the bush concealing your true emotions. Dare to be who you want to be. To be outright from the start saves a lot of frustrations and misunderstandings. If you can't be who you want to be in this life, then which life are you gonna start doing it?

Smiling is the basis of happiness.
Laughing is the basis of joy.
Giggling is the basis of humour.
Choose to create the emotions with expressions,
should the emotions not create the expressions.
A sincere smile a day keeps my worries at bay.

One of my recent and favourite shots taken in a moving car. This picture brings up the emotions I was feeling when I had it taken. Now looking back, I have learnt and grown since that day. Probably I have this on my desktop to remind me of how I strong I can actually be. Really like the fact that the words "SLOW" got captured. Hee...

Lessons in Life

There are many times in life when one fails to succeed. Be it in a relationship or a career, the feeling is never good to know that you were unsuccessful. You may have put in a lot of time, effort and money. You may have given up plenty of other things on life just so that you could do your best. When it comes to a point where you know that no amount of further hard work will make it work, just let it go.

With regards to relationships, sometimes we were just meant to go through the heartache so that we can learn and grow. It hurts. It really does. But at least we loved to our hearts' content when it lasted. We have the memories of the most beautiful love ever. Some of those around us may never ever have had that feeling. We have. So we should just console ourselves with the fact that we were lucky in love at that time. Take time to ponder on what went wrong in the relationship. Learn the lessons. You will become a better person. That is why maturity usually comes with age. Those more elderly have made more mistakes and learnt their lessons through their years on Earth. One day we shall all get there. Meanwhile there is much more to learn and do while we're alive than to just sit around moping over lost love.

In the business world, many have worked hard to carve out their career. They start their own businesses. However, due to certain circumstances, it winds up. No worries. The lesson learnt here is that you have the expertise to start a business. You are experienced. It hurts to see your sweat and blood go down the drain. But hey, you did it once, you can always do it again. Just rejoice that all the previous hard work put in worked and the business was once flourishing. You have the talent. Cheer up. Many others do not have the talent and perseverance to start and run a business. Collect all the negative feelings and start planning on your next business venture! Time waits for no man. Do not waste all those precious minutes on answering your own "What if" questions. It is all too late to turn it back. What you can do now is to start a new chapter in your life. Who knows? This chapter could be more colourful than the last.

When dealing with anything in life, one must always have hope. We should all look on the bright side of things and give our best shot. However, when you know that things are at a constant with no chances of revival, be practical. Let go. Negative feelings will emerge. We are all but human. Learn the lessons from it. Become a better person. As long as we are still breathing, we still have another chance at making things right the next time round. And trust me. That time will come. Good things come to those to wait.

Love is beautiful.
Rarely does the right feeling come along.
When it does, treasure it.
But if it is not meant to be,
Just learn to let go.
It is always better to have loved and lost,
Then never to have loved at all.

Mood music

Movies imitate life. I'm probably someone who suffers from film addiction. I'd rather be overdosed than to cut down on my intake. To not step into the cinema is as equivalent as asking a straight hot-blooded male not to think about sex or women. Impossible. Nothing beats the big screen and surround sound. Makes it so much easier to completely engage myself in the storyline.

The appeal of movies is really huge to me. I can play the voyeur, observing the characters in their daily life. I can become part of their world. Feeling like someone who is just beside them. I immerse myself in every film I watch. That is why I really hate it when mobiles go off or the person behind me insists on shaking my seat incessantly. Once or twice is fine. But PLEASE don't do it for the whole duration of the show. I DO NOT need a massage chair. Thank you very much.

Music plays a very crucial part in every drama production. Plays, movies and drama serials usually use music to help bring out the mood of different scenes. Therefore, a good soundtrack is extremely important to a movie. To tell a story in a short span of 2 hours is not a simple task. The soundtrack creates the right atmosphere for a scene and also helps the audience "feel" the emotions displayed on screen. Nothing beats a great song that suits a scene.

Music also helps viewers connect with the movie. A catchy theme song is always crucial to dramas. Once the song is heard, people think of the show almost immediately. A good example would be Superman or Days of Our Lives. This also applies to movies with sequels, like Star Wars.

Like wise, in life, I have a habit of selecting music to suit my daily emotional status. Certain melodies remind of past events and maybe even rake up some old feelings. I am starring in my own movie, so it's not surprisingly to rely strongly on music to set the mood. Recently I've been repeating Cake's version of "I will survive". A cover version of an old hit done by the Gloria Gaynor. It's I-don't-give-a-damn-about-you-no-more lyrics helps to tide me through my emotional sufferings. I would recommend this song to anyone who is going though a hard time in their relationships. Just be strong. You'll learn how to get along.

Also in my playlist now is U2's "Stuck in a moment". The lyrics also suit my current situation as I have recently placed myself (and my heart) in a sticky position. I am truly "stuck in a moment and I can't get out of it". This song was also dedicated to me by someone special, so hearing this song reminds me of him. Music linked to memories.

Music is something that I use to help make my feelings overwhelming so that I can completely get lost. However, there has to be a limit to it. I usually give myself a stipulated amount of time to grieve or vent my anger. During which every moment would be accompanied by apt music. I immerse myself in that feeling. Cry all I want. Scream all I want. Sing along. Feed my nicotine addiction. After which I tell myself that life has to go on, and I have better things in life to be thinking about. So from there forth, I go back onto track.

This is a method that seems to work on quite a number of people I know. Sometimes, however, it may be slightly challenging finding the right song to suit you. No worries. Should that ever be the case, feel free to send me an email. I'll find the right song for you.

Blog is republished!

Time has swifted taken a little more youth from me. A little more than 6 months ago, I was actively updated my blog. Then the boredom and repetition of daily life took over and I succumbed to the temptation of abandoning my personal project. Now I'm back!

No, no. I'm not going to fill it up with my daily ramblings. Well, maybe sometimes I might, provided it has certain teachings in life to it. This blog ain't called "Life..." for nothing aight?
What you are going to find this time round:
- Movie reviews (provided I have the capital to catch them)
- Music reviews (also subject to financial capabilities)
- Song recommendations and lyrics
- Recaptions of old movies/music. (It's always good to reminisce)
- Poems (Self penned if possible)
- Little anecdotes and musings
- Personal thoughts on issues in life

I have allowed comments on my posts, so should you have anything to voice out, please do so! Honestly speaking, I really don't think anyone will actually read this anyway... In any case, this is my personal project. Good if people are willing to read, better if they comment. If not, well, fuck it. =p
